Having worked alongside the John Williams family for some years, in 1992, Christopher Williams acquired The John Williams Funeral Service of Shifnal. It was a natural move to make, as there was a great mutual respect between them. Simon and Louise Williams now continue their late father's vision to offer you the best service available, anywhere.

We serve Shifnal, Albrighton and surrounding areas; and we often work in nearby Wolverhampton, for discerning families. We will travel anywhere to serve you.

Originally, John Williams was a typical market town undertaker - a tradesman who would 'undertake' to provide a coffin and generally organise the funeral locally - coffins were hand-made from seasoned elm and oak, pitched inside, then dressed and fitted with appropriate linings, handles and an engraved nameplate. As in every walk of life, things have changed a little; nowadays, coffins are manufactured and the boards cut precisely on machines, in factories.

We pride ourselves in hand finishing our coffins, to ensure that they are aesthetically pleasing to the eye, as well as comfortable and neat for the occupant.

We work hand in hand with our sister business; The C. J. Williams Funeral Service of Telford, and our chapels of rest are situated at their beautiful and immaculate premises, an easy five miles from our office (eleven minutes by car). 

We believe that you should receive a warm and friendly welcome, together with natural kindness in making arrangements for this most special event in your family. We are, as you should expect, fully qualified to receive you and offer local advice for whatever kind of leave-taking ceremony you might wish for - be that a traditional church funeral service, or Mass; or perhaps something a little less traditional in style, but still retaining the quiet and natural dignity of the occasion.

We are able to accommodate all of your wishes; providing that they can be carried out legally and decently - in short; if it is possible, we can do it.

We absolutely keep confidential all matters and dealings with you, thus protecting your privacy with the utmost discretion; and we do not pry into your private family affairs unnecessarily; neither do we have an opinion about anyone, regardless of what is said about them.
